Strange day
Feb. 24th, 2007 07:25 pmThanks to everyone for the feel better wishes.
And then there were 7 (siblings that is). I have a strange family. Both my mother and father had four children (2 sons and 2 daughters) each before marrying and having me and my younger sister (who I haven't spoken to in 5 plus years). I barely know my dad's children from his first marriage. They are all 25 plus years older than me; probably even more. They have children much older than me. My mom's children from her first marriage are also older (the youngest being 12 years older than me and the only one the seven that I really think of as a sibling; that is Sharon). Sharon called today to tell me that my dad's second daughter had died. I feel like I should feel something but I don't; I haven't seen her since my fathers funeral twenty years ago. I am not sure I would have recognized her if I saw her on the street.
The ice storm started about 5. What is falling from the sky looks much like the ice in slushies. If the pace of freezing rain and the wind keep their current pace all night, I expect that the predictions of power line and tree damage will be true before the sun comes up.
